An imperfect tooth in your smile can leave you feeling self-conscious in social settings. Fortunately, the appearance of a single tooth can usually be improved by having Dr. William Wilson install a porcelain crown.

Dr. William Wilson will first want to examine the tooth, to assess its overall health. This often includes taking a few X-rays to make sure the interior of the tooth is healthy.

Then he will remove all of the tooth enamel leaving behind an abutment made from the dentin, pulp and root of the tooth. This will later serve to anchor your permanent crown in place.

Then Dr. William Wilson will make a detailed impression of the abutment, and the neighboring teeth, as well as your bite pattern. This will be sent to a dental lab, where your new crown is prepared A temporary crown is placed over the abutment to keep it safe, while you wait for the dental lab to complete your new crown.

Once the dental lab has finished your new crown, Chicago Osteopathic Hospital Dental Clinic PC will call you in for a brief follow up appointment. The temporary crown is removed and your new permanent crown is cemented in place.

If you are interested in restoring the cosmetic appeal of one or more of the teeth in your smile, you should call Chicago Osteopathic Hospital Dental Clinic PC at 773-947-4665 to set up a consultation time.
